I spoke last week with Brian Smith, President of the Irish Hills Corvette Club, regarding our joint low speed event weekend at Michigan International Speedway on September 26/27th.

Brian mentioned that at their last club meeting he brought up the subject of workers required to support the weekend events and Flint’s possible difficulty in supplying all the workers necessary to cover our day. He advised me several of their members would be willing to help Flint where they could. I thanked him on behalf of the club and assured him we would do everything we could to provide the necessary workers.

Our club needs to take care of two items as soon as possible for our speed events. First, we need to supply the Irish Hills club with a $500.00 check to secure our date with MIS. Second, we need to commit to Theodore’s Timing (same group we’ve used in previous years) that we will be using their services to lock in that date. I will be looking for club approval on these items.

In regards to the event timing, Dwight Theodore has had to revise his price schedule beginning this year. Instead of a flat $300.00 a day fee, it’s now $300.00 for up to forty drivers, $425.00 from forty one to sixty drivers, and $550.00 from sixty to one hundred drivers. For those not familiar with Dwight’s service this is the first price increase I’m aware of in probably ten years.

Upcoming events:

Calhoun County Corvettes will be hosting their annual autocross driver school on May 9th at the Eaton Proving Grounds in Marshall, MI. This school is open to drivers with limited or no experience in low speed autocross events.

Corvette Club of Michigan will be hosting a total of four rallies on May 3rd starting at the Chase Bank in Plymouth, MI.

Corvette Club of Battle Creek will be hosting a people’s choice car show on May 17th at Cornwall’s Turkeyville USA in Marshall, MI

Corvette Club of Michigan will be hosting seven low speed autocross events on May 17th at the Schoolcraft Training Center in Livonia, MI

I will have copies of the flyers to view at our monthly meeting. You can view them on the Michigan region website www.michcorvette.org. by clicking “flyers” located on the left hand side.

For any member that may be interested in attending any of the events listed but would like some assistance please contact me.

Respectfully submitted
