When you read this the competition season in the Michigan region will be over and I hope to have a good idea of who will finish in the top positions of the various trials by meeting night.

Our October 3rh & 4th joint 14 event low speed weekend with the Irish Hills Corvette Club in Brooklyn, MI was very successful, well if you don’t count the weather. I will have a financial report by meeting night.

Saturday morning was windy and cold. Despite the weather we had forty nine drivers which is very good for our region. As the drivers meeting started so did the rain/sleet. From then on it got worse. The rain increased, the wind was 15-20 MPH (with gusts to 30 MPH), and temperature was around 39 degrees with the wind chill. The rain almost stopped in the afternoon, but the course never did dry out which favored the street tire class. Men’s overall FTD was Joe Eller with a time of 36.976. Ladies overall FTD was Teresa Eller with a time of 37.949.

Sunday (which was supposed to be the bad day) was overcast, with an occasional hint of sun, and much warmer. Driver count increased to fifty one. The course was dry and made a little faster by eliminating one pylon in the chicane, and improving entry and exits on several corners. This allowed the higher horsepower street cars and cars on race rubber to shine. Men’s overall FTD was Bruce Wentzel with a time of 31.841. Ladies overall FTD was Mary Wentzel with a time of 32.936.

Thanks to the following club members that made the drive to race/work or just work: Danny & Michaelle Kellermeyer (Saturday & Sunday), Mary Hall (Saturday & Sunday), Connie Esposito (Saturday & Sunday), Donna Janos (Saturday & Sunday), Tom Janos (Sunday), Ken Jameison (Sunday), Matt & Laurie Bacon (Sunday), and Jim & Barb Harris (Sunday). Without your support and the support of the Irish Hills club this would not have been possible.

We held our last three competitive events (rallies) on Saturday October 10th starting at the Meijer’s Food Store on Lapeer road in Davison. I was pleasantly surprised when nineteen cars entered. The fifty mile drive started with a poker game at the start, followed by a bean bag game at the check point, and lastly a puzzle game at the end point. Several members placed well in the games. I will have results and financials at the club meeting. Many thanks to the following club members who donated their time to make this happen: Dave Fulks, James Strahan, Kirsten & Bill Hawes, Jim & Barb Harris, Michael Kellermeyer, and Mary Hall.

Competitive events at still continuing in other regions if anyone in interested in attending please let me know.

Respectfully submitted

Robert Hall.
