FCC Meeting 3-14-14
Competition Report
As I write this it’s sunny, 21 degrees, with a wind chill of 13 (as reported on the weather channel) however, it didn’t stop me from starting the 96 vette, checking the tire pressure, etc. and heading up to the local car wash to get rid of the five months accumulation of dirt while setting in the garage. It was damn cold and very slippery standing in the bay to get this done but it was worth it afterward to take about a ten mile drive and dream of warmer days to come. It was like a ten mile autocross with potholes instead of cones.
The lingering cold and snow makes it hard to believe that the first Michigan region competitive events are just around the corner on April sixth when the Corvette Club of Michigan (CCM) will be hosting one Time Speed Distance and two game rallies starting at the Chase bank on Sheldon road in Plymouth (flyer attached).
Looking ahead to May tenth, Calhoun County Corvettes will again host a rookie autocross driving school at the Eaton Proving Grounds on B drive south in Marshall (flyer attached). This is a good event for anyone thinking about trying an autocross event. It will walk you thru registration, vehicle prep, and you’ll have ample time to drive a course in a relaxed, controlled environment with an experienced instructor. I’ll be glad to answer any questions anyone has regarding the school.
The selection process for competitive event dates took place at the Michigan Region Meeting held on February eighteenth in Lansing. Flint ended up with August ninth for our seven low speed events and October eleventh for our three rallies. The meeting minutes can be seen in its entirety in the websites member’s only section.
