Competition Director- Flint Corvette Club

Friday, May 15, 2015

The competition season in the Michigan Region kicked off Sunday May 3rd with the Corvette Club of Michigan hosting four rallies in Plymouth, MI. Ten cars started the time, speed, distance/gimmick rally under beautiful skies and ended with two game rallies at the restaurant in the Compuware building.

The skies were less than ideal at the Calhoun County Corvette annual autocross driver school on May 9th at the Eaton Proving Grounds in Marshall, MI with an on/off drizzle lasting most of the day. The weather did not dampen the spirits of the twelve rookie drivers who participated and they were rewarded with over eighteen runs on a tight technical course. Instructors included the current NCCC men’s champion and several past men and women champions.

Michigan Region meeting highlights:

Treasurer Brenda Shatkosky and Regional executive Mark Hanlon extend thanks to the Donna Janos and Pat Fulks of The Flint Corvette Club for audit of the region’s books.

Joe Scafero, membership, has created a temporary NCCC membership card template for CCM’s use. Several other clubs expressed interest, so Joe will be sending out a generic form for review.

Sixty four people attended the 2014 Michigan region awards banquet. Total income $3115.00, Total expenses $3050.64, for a profit of $64.36. I passed along Flint’s interest for hosting the 2015 awards.

The Michigan region standing rules “all or nothing” motion will not be submitted at the April meeting, more work on wording needs to be done.
